I am pleased to have led the Criminal Justice Committee’s consideration of the Police (Ethics Conduct and Scrutiny) Bill prior to being passed by the Parliament. The Bill will improve the way complaints against the police and allegations of misconduct are handled. The majority of officers are dedicated and committed to keeping us safe, however where their conduct falls short, allegations of misconduct will be dealt with more transparently and effectively.
